Reagan & Lincoln's Snow Day

As the recent snow storm blew across the country this past week, I have to ask everyone..."What did you do on your snow day?" I of course slept in and then enjoyed some much needed play time with our two dogs, Reagan & Lincoln. They tend to get a bit of cabin fever this time of year, so whenever I can talk myself into it, I bundle up and play with them outside for as long as I can stand the cold. Linc gets chilly pretty fast and is usually very obvious about showing me he wants back in. But Reg, I think he could stay out there all day, what with the two layers of a fur coat and all (which is why there are more pictures of Reagan than there are Lincoln by the way).

Some of you Freedom Rock® fans may know of Reagan since he's acted as Bubba's partner while painting the Rock for the past seven years. He has grown quite famous! In fact, some people stop by the Rock or Sorensen Studios, just to say hi to Reagan...and if he's not here, they literally say they'll come back when he is-no joke...that has happened! Reagan has also been featured on several newspapers and television stations  for being "The Rock Dog". He loves that time of year with Bubba, sometimes going out at 3a.m. to go paint with him, but he's always ready! We've already scheduling some Tour Buses at The Freedom Rock® this year and they always ask if Reagan will be there too and I say "Of course he will, he even has his own little spot he has grown quite fond of beside the Rock."

Back to the story, I decided to break out the camera because some of the moves they were doing looked so beautiful with the snow flying every where. If you're interested in hiring a Sorensen Studios photographer to capture your fun snow day with your family or a  furry friend-contact us today at 641.343.7110 Ext. 1 or email us at sorensenstudios@yahoo.com.

Vote For Haylee!

Haylee's back for her second appearance on the SS Blog but this time it wasn't just for fun-this was business! Just kidding, of course we had fun. In fact, a couple of times we lost concentration and found ourselves dancing and singing to the music instead of taking pictures! But we can't help ourselves, our favorite song comes on and we find ourselves with full open arms of belting out the words. Luckily, this all happened while the studio was closed, so Bubba won't kill us for scaring off all the customers.

This magic all happened because Haylee is going to be competing in Avon Voices and she needed a head shot for her online profile. I was honored when Haylee asked if I would take her pictures and I wish her the best of luck in this amazing journey she's about to embark on. Her profile will be up soon so stay tuned and I'll tell you when to vote. Below are a few of my favorite shots from her photo shoot. I had a lot of fun experimenting with different lighting and styles.

Good Luck, Haylee!

Another Special Visitor

Yesterday we had the honor of meeting SGT Ricky Leonard with the HHT 1-113 Cavalry.
Leonard wanted to stop by the studio and say "thank you" for his Freedom Rock Calendar he received while serving in Afghanistan. "I received it the day I was going on leave" Leonard said. "I decided to take it home with me instead of leave it there."

Wow-were we honored to be visited by SGT Leonard. You may remember the Freedom Rock Calendar Special we ran back in December. Thanks to all you loyal fans, heroes like SGT Leonard could receive a free gift while serving over seas. SGT Leonard also provided us with this picture he took in front of The Freedom Rock® this summer before being deployed.

Thanks again Freedom Rock Fans and God Bless!

The Freedom Rock® fans ROCK!

Below are a few emails we received after posting about our trip to Antigua. Most of these people I have had the privilege of getting to know while participating in my husband's annual project: The Freedom Rock®. For those of you who know us, know that we say this is the best part of being involved in this project; meeting our nation's heroes and their loved ones. We have made some great friends over the years and feel truly blessed. Thank you all again for your support. God Bless!

Hey Maria!
Congrats to you and Bubba again! Speaking of trips, guess where I am...Back in Iraq! Doh! I just arrived
last week. We are scheduled to be here for another year unless politics decide something else. What is your
address again? I'll send a postcard. Maybe I can even send you all some Iraqi sand for Bubba to put in his
paint next time he paints the rock. Take care and keep in touch!

Wow!! What a great vacation/honeymoon. And, a great time to be away from frigid Iowa. Your pictures
are fantastic and would make a great travel brochure. Sure made us want to take a trip to Antigua. We're
so happy you won. After all Bubba has done for the Veterans over the past 12 years, he certainly deserved to win. His work is very much appreciated. We'll probably visit The Freedom Rock again this summer.

Thanks again for sharing your vacation pictures.

God's Blessings.
From your friends you have never met, down under in Aus.

Antigua!

So I finally got around to picking out a few of my favorite photos from our trip to the St. James Club in Antigua from January 5th-11th 2011. Some of them were taken with our professional camera and others just with a handheld digital. (I'm still developing my underwater camera...I'll post those soon!) Sorry it took so long but in my defense it's still technically January so really I'm not that far behind. Plus, you should have seen the stack of mail we had to sort through when we got back people! I couldn't help but to keep hearing that song in my head..."Back to life, back to reality..."

However, our time in Antigua was amazing, it was more than amazing it was...well I'll just let you see. We literally lied out on the beach with a drink in our hands every single day. My tan is fading, but when I look back through these pictures I can still feel the warmth of the beach! We made some great friends, business contacts and we are already talking about saving for our next trip to Antigua (it may take us ten years but hey...we'll go back).

We also wanted to take this time to thank REDBOOK Magazine for the opportunity to win this trip. Thank you to all of our friends, family and even total strangers who voted for us-with out your support I wouldn't have tan lines in January and I wouldn't have been able to actually be warm on my birthday since every year its usually a blizzard out and everyones canceling on my party. But not this year, oh no this year I sang karaoke with the natives of Antigua and had a piƱa colada. So THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU ALL AGAIN!

These little guys had holes all over the beach,
I was just relieved they weren't tarantula holes

Well look at that, Bubba found a rock in Antigua too!
Took these while relaxing one day...and I made friends
with a lot of kittens after giving them food.

Bubba drew this in the sand one day, we called this our private beach
because it was in front of our room and we basically had it to ourselves every day
Rum Punch...one of our favorites
This picture was taken sitting outside our hotel room!
This is us out for my birthday on our way back from
our favorite restaurant on the resort.

Even our shadows couldn't keep their hands off each other!
This is a great shot of our resort.
